My name is Dana Woods I am the new School Counselor at Venetucci Elementary School and I am looking forward to the new school year. My main mission is to provide a safe and positively stimulating environment to enable all students to flourish. My core counseling philosophy is built upon relationships. I believe that learning is greatly enhanced when it is coupled with positive relationships between the student and the supportive adults around them. If we can come together with a common goal, which is to create a positive engaging environment, then students will be successful, self-aware, and knowledgeable future members of society. This attitude allows me as the counselor, to be responsive to all members of the school and hopefully inspire others to respond to one another in positive ways. Collaboration is the key to success. I hope to foster this by running groups, doing classroom guidance lessons, meeting with individual students and parents, and being a resource to school staff. Please do not hesitate to call or email me if you have questions or need support with your student.
I am also the point of contact for 504 accommodations.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counseling and Human Services from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs. I am a licensed school counselor for the state of Colorado.
